Combining talking-heads and fly-on-the-wall footage with highly stylised scripted scenes, Peck’s engaging documentary/essay – following a group of boxers in the build-up to a big fight, teasing out their hopes, ambitions, and background details, featuring fighters at various stages of their careers, including a young Bradley Stone, who would die only a few years later following a tragic bout – proves to be a fascinating and illuminating depiction of a brutally difficult way of life.
