Although much of its plot detail defies credibility, and its overly insistent score becomes rather distracting after a while, this much maligned film – in which a doting young mother, in a slightly unhappy marriage, tentatively begins an affair with a journalist, only to have her life ripped apart when her husband and son are killed in a terrorist attack – proves to be, never the less, a really quite moving work, thanks in the main to Williams’s brave performance.
