Whilst pursuing a potential suspect, an Oslo-based Swedish policeman, who has been sent to a small town in the far north of Norway to investigate the murder of a 17-year-old girl, accidentally shoots his partner with an unlicensed firearm, and precedes to cover it up, the guilt of which, along with the arctic summer sun, ensures that he is soon suffering from the titular complaint, with his judgement severely impaired, in Skjoldbjærg’s beautifully crafted, expertly acted, and rather unnerving thriller.
