When his sister, severely disabled and brain-damaged following a suicide attempt, apparently kills herself on her wedding night, Jacob, a journalist, feels a great sense of guilt and grief; but when he uncovers information about her husband’s past that puts the cause of her death in doubt, he sets out for the small town of Mørke in search of answers, in this viscerally acted, thoroughly unpredictable, and often quite remarkable if only just about credible thriller.
