When a research scientist, employed by the MOD, who has become disillusioned with the possible implications of his work, goes in to hiding with an atomic bomb, and threatens to detonate it unless the British government announces that it will no longer manufacture such devices, a frantic search begins for his whereabouts, in this tense and believable thriller, filled with excellent performances, which also manages to paint a fascinating portrait of post-war London life.
